L-Avvizi – News Letter #5

This year has been an interesting one to say the least. We can’t wait to get back out there doing what we love most – programing theatre for all of you!

It’s no secret that our panto has taken a different turn this year and will now be coming to all of you through your radios. That’s right, make sure to tune in to XFM, 103 Heart, Calypso or Magic Malta on the 20th of December at 8pm to listen to your favourite actors perform for you over the radio. What’s even better is that Ġulbiena – A Panto in the Dark is happening in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund, because what’s better than giving back to those who need it most for Christmas?

Samuel Farrugia, Davinia Hamilton, Anton Saliba and Chucky Bartolo have been rehearsing this hilarious script for the past few months, but they’re currently getting those panto creative juices flowing over zoom in anticipation of the big night on the 20th. We also have a bunch of treats lined up for you before that so stay tuned for a special comeback from Frans il-Ħamallu and shout-outs from familiar faces on our socials all throughout December.

What’s more? Since it’s the season to be jolly then what better way to spend your Thursdays then with Vikesh, Marta and Chucky as they take over our social media every Thursday in the run up to Ġulbiena, starting this Thursday with writers and directors Vikesh Godhwani and Marta Vella taking over all the way from London.

With preparations for panto well underway, we’d also like to take a minute to thank everyone for the feedback received for Alice in Wonderless Land. Our public shows in collaboration with ŻiguŻajg closed yesterday to sold out audiences, and we couldn’t be happier. The project doesn’t end there however. The dolls are still available for educators to order for all those interested in the #DIYPerformance.

Before we sign off we’d like to thank you for sticking by us this year, we know it hasn’t been easy but we promise to make up for our “absence” in 2021. We’ve missed you and we hope you’ve missed us too.

A Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year from all of us at Teatru Malta.
