Biography

Mikhail has been acting on stage and film for the past 30 years after having completed the Manoel Theatre Academy for Dramatic Arts (MTADA). Recent productions have included Macbeth in William Shakespeares’s Macbeth, Larry in Patrick Marber’s Closer, Stu in the infamous banned play Stitching by Anthony Nielson, Barabas in Christopher Marlowe’s The Jew of Malta, Tom Stockmann in En Folkefiende by Brad Birch. Musical parts have included Bill Calhoun in Kiss me Kate, Bobby in Stephen Sondheim’s Company, and Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof. Past productions in local TV series have included Anġli, L-Għarusa, Miraklu, Simpatiċi, Tlieta Kontra Tlieta, Delitti Maltin, Il-Pesta, and Għaddi…Il-Bieb Miftuħ. In 2018, Mikhail was nominated in the category Artist of the Year at the Premju Ghall-Arti. He loves to travel, cook, try exotic foods and has a great passion for scuba diving and underwater photography. He plays the piano & saxophone and is also a Graphic Designer. Lastly, many claim he cooks the best octopus on the island.Mikhail Basmadjian
