A Clockwork Orange is a cult classic. But before it was a cult movie, it was a controversial book that told the story through the eyes of a troubled fifteen-year-old boy. Many remember Burgess’s turbulent stay in Malta, when he was living on the island for some time. Burgess wrote the play based on the now famous book and this year Teatru Malta have been commissioned by Żigużajg to produce a re-adaptation of this classic, for teens. Yes, teens.

With bullying, self-harm, drugs, violence, gender identities and other issues still being so relevant, A Clockwork Orange will be translated into Maltese for the first time, as a fresh, pertinent take on the classic novel.

This is a dark piece of theatre laced with juvenile delinquency, youth gangs, and other social, political, and economic issues in a near-dystopian future.

In partnership with Żigużajg and Spazju Kreattiv.
