Gianni Selvaggi
Biography
Gianni Selvaggi (he/him) is an Italo-Maltese Actor, Musician and Writer, who has been performing professionally since 2012. He formed part of the Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre Company between 2014-2017. In 2019, he moved to London to further his studies in the arts, obtaining an MA in Performance (Acting) with Distinction from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
In 2017, he co-wrote and performed in the sexual health musical My Fanny Valentine, which was staged at the Edinburgh Fringe. Gianni’s musical abilities tend to amalgamate with his stage work, fusing his songwriting and soundscape design with one-person performances. His first solo piece, “…You Make Lemonade” (2018), was a one-man dramatic comedy that revolved around toxic masculinity, cancer in men and mental health. Gianni’s most recent solo piece, BLENDER, is an exploration into the genesis of his blended Italo-Maltese accent through auto-ethnographic performance and intermedial practices.
Among his collaborations, Gianni has worked with Teatri Kombëtar (Kosovo),Teatro Due Parma (Italy), SNG Nova Gorica (Slovenia), Teatr Opole (Poland), Hallmark (US), Sky Italia, Cheek by Jowl, Project Cabaret (MT) and The Three Palaces Festival (MT). He is also associate music coordinator and resident actor with WTN Theatre (MT) as well as founder of SHED theatre collective.
