DRAGO: It-Tvenvin ta’ Tornado Tony
Our biopic about Malta’s legendary Tornado makes its way to international waters.
We heard you. We’re bringing DRAGO back: first stop, Slovenia! Premiered in 2022, DRAGO: It-Tvenvin ta’ Tornado Tony is a brilliant biopic of the tumultuous life of Valletta-born Tony “Tornado” Drago, Malta’s snooker and pool legend.
DRAGO is kicking off its international tour: first, at an international showcase of works in smaller European languages in Slovenia, presented as part of the Drama of Smaller European Languages project, a cooperation project between 8 partner theatres and co-funded by Creative Europe, and during the 55th edition of the celebrated Week of Slovenian Drama, hosted by Prešernovo Gledališče Kranj, the lead partner.
DRAGO: It-Tvenvin ta’ Tornado Tony will be accompanied by counterparts from Sala Beckett (Spain), Ivan Vazov National Theatre (Bulgaria), and National Theatre of Kosovo (Kosovo) who will all be staging performances in their own native tongues, namely Catalan, Bulgarian and Albanian respectively. DRAGO will be performed in Maltese once again, supported by English and Slovenian subtitles for the benefit of international audiences.
The Drama of Smaller European Languages project is funded by the European Union.
