Biography

Stephen trained as a professional actor at The Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. He has worked professionally as an actor, vocal coach and director for over 40 years in the UK, the USA and Europe.   An award winning director, his directorial credits include:  ’Allo ‘Allo, The Weir, Equus, Twelve Angry Men, Terra Nova, Dead Funny, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Stepping Out, Chess, A Children’s Crusade, Ghetto, Blue Remembered Hills, A Clockwork Orange, Animal Farm, Breaking the Code, Having a Ball, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Marat/Sade, Quartet, Brimstone and Treacle, Kindertransport, Dracula the Musical, 4.48 Psychosis, Pippin, Female Transport, The Wizard of Oz (RSC) and Murderer. Internationally he has directed Godspell at the National Theatre in Split, Croatia and Cabaret at the Kimble Theatre, Virginia in the USA. In Malta he directed the Blue Box inaugural production of Festen. Recent productions include: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Amadeus and WTC at the Teatru Manoel, Butterflies are Free, The Acrobat and Unintended at St James Cavalier, Metamorphosis at Fort St Elmo, The Tempest at San Anton Gardens, Death and the Maiden and The Memory of Water at Blue Box.  He will be directing Breaking the Code in 2022. His acting credits in Malta include: Kes, Game, The Crucible, Black Comedy, As You Like It, Noises Off, She Stoops to Conquer, Skylight, Certified Male as well as many pantomimes, together with a variety of feature films including The Dovekeepers, 13 Hours, Lights on Her, Never After, Storbju, Icon, The Mystery of the Britannic and Beautiful Lie. In 2021, he will be playing King Lear and will be appearing in Sweeney Todd in 2022.
