SPRING/SUMMER SEASON PROGRAMME 2025
The SPRING/SUMMER Programme is here!
This new season is something of an ode to reinvention. It’s stitched together by the many hands that make theatre feel like a living, breathing thing
This season continues Teatru Malta’s promise to hold up a mirror to Malta… and sometimes, to gently tilt it. Repubblikgħana returns in a new form, bringing music, memory, and politics straight to the nation’s classrooms. Boċċi: The Musical reimagines a fading sport and the communities that orbit it, transforming local pitches into theatres of nostalgia and hope. And DRAGO: It-Tvenvin ta’ Tornado Tony, our ode to Malta’s snooker legend, gets its cue for an international tour sparked by the thunderous applause back home.
In schools, our classroom play OĦXON opens up honest conversations about body image and self-worth. On stage, Francis Ebejer’s last biting satire Il-Ġaħan ta’ Binġemma returns for a landmark revival at Fort St. Elmo, premiering on what would have been the playwright’s 100th birthday. Initiatives like Trikki Trakki, Każin 60+, and Studio Francis Ebejer continue to ground us in what matters most — grassroots storytelling, intergenerational voices, and a deep Maltese pulse. Their continuation? A feast in itself.
Across borders, we’re still growing. Through The Drama of Smaller European Languages initiative, Maltese stories find new homes on foreign stages. And MITI MITI, our myth-soaked, magic-laced children’s hit, continues its European journey after enchanting audiences last November and a creative lab in Italy earlier this year, more international adventures may well be on the horizon.
This and more in the months to come!
