Repubblikgħana

RepubblikGħana is a dynamic and culturally charged project that is touring schools as part of Fondazzjoni Ċelebrazzjonijiet Nazzjonali’s programme of activities, aimed to celebrate and raise awareness about Malta’s 50th anniversary as a Republic in collaboration with Heritage Malta. This 30-minute production aims to educate and engage young audiences by narrating the story of how Malta became a republic while highlighting the significance of the Republic in Maltese history. The unique aspect of RepubblikGħana, is that it integrates the traditional folk song għana, using it as an effective medium of storytelling, together with theatre and live music. 

RepubblikGħana is written and directed by Jeremy Grech with musical direction by Justin Galea. The cast includes George Curmi l-Pusè, Hannah Gatt, Andrew Vella Zarb, Marjann Attard, Josef Camilleri (Xarulù) and Bernard Curmi with props and set design by Laura Zammit, technical support by Mark Ciantar and assistance from Naomi Magro during the development phase of the project.
