“It’s always good to learn. We would like to have a Masterclass every year where we bring in an artist or international group with an excellent reputation. We are not a school, therefore we collaborate with entities like the University, and offer the public fruits of this collaboration”.

Cast & Actors

Claudia Contin Arlecchino

Known and loved in the whole world as Arlecchino, is actually the first woman that plays exclusively since 1987 the male role of one of the most famous masks of the italian Commedia dell’Arte. After attending the School by Alessandra Galante Garrone in Bologna and the Workshop by the Teatro a l’Avogaria, she founded together with Ferruccio Merisi, the Scuola Sperimentale dell’Attore in 1990 in Pordenone, where she has the fundamental role of director of didactical programs. She received the Prize “Adelaide Ristori 2005”, as “Best Contemporary Actress”; in fact she engages herself in contemporary and experimental Drama, besides Commedia dell’Arte. She wrote theatre plays and theorical essays translated in 4 languages. Together with Ferruccio Merisi she gained a sense for didactic, codification and transmission of theatrical “know how”. This makes of her a loved and renowned “Maestro”. As a support to the actor’s craft, she exercises in figuratives arts, being painter, grafic-performer and stage designer. She trained at the Istituto d’Arte in Udine and she graduated in Architecture in Venice, she holds personal exibitions since 1974. This activity strongly influenced her way to re-design the actor’s stage language. In this respect her most prominent experiment is the study on postures and movements extracted by Egon Schiele’s works, which lead her to many collaboration with musicians, figurative artists and intellectuals. For the Scuola Sperimentale dell’Attore she directs also the “Progetto Sciamano”, devoted to Theatre of Differences and to Social Theatre. Writer, collaborator and actress in many performances of her Company, her repertoire is rich with her solo plays, some already 20 years old.
