The Cast of the First Teatru Malta Production is Out!

Teatru Malta’s first production? The ‘Qarċilla’! The first theatrical text to be written in Maltese was the Qarċilla! So it was only natural for the Qarċilla to be our first production. However, this is a different kind of Qarċilla – first of all, we gave it a female voice for the first time ever – and for that we worked with Leanne Ellul. Then we peppered it with numerous international collaborations thanks to Jacob Piccinino, who created a concept that’s as cool as a cucumber. The ‘Qarċilla’ was always written according to the people’s voice – satirical, naughty and teasing!
