Maria Buckle
Biography
Maria trained mostly at Masquerade Theatre Arts School. She likes to vary the productions she takes part in as much as possible so that she can tackle different genres and characters. Amongst other things, she has appeared in a handful of Christmas pantomimes with MADC; Musicals, such as Hairspray (FM Theatre); interpreted Julia in Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona and Hermia in Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream (MADC); various characters in Il-Hajja Sigrieta tan-Nanna Genoveffa (UnifaunTheatre Productions); Anita in Tattoo (Actinghouse Productions), Miss Cutts in Harold Pinter’s The Hothouse, as translated to Is-Serra (Teatru Malta), and she undertook the role of Girl in Us/Them (The Shrinking Violets). She was involved in the Toi Toi educational programme by Teatru Manoel where she worked on pieces for 0 to 2 year olds and later on formed part of the group Toi Toi Labsters, working on pieces for 5 to 10 year olds. She is one of the founders of the collective The Shrinking Violets. Maria has an ATCL level Diploma in Speech and Drama (Trinity College London) and looks forward to furthering her studies. She currently works as a secondary school Drama teacher.
