Leah Mifsud
Biography
Leah is 12 years old and currently a full time student at the Malta Visual and Performing Arts School. The music scene was always quite intriguing to her, and so she started taking vocal lessons at the age of 6. Later, she started taking piano and music theory lessons, and to make things more professiona, she took Trinity exams in vocal, piano, music theory and later on drama. Soon she was chosen for the local TV programme Esperti –– and that is when her interest in acting began.
Leah started doing other TV jobs, adverts and taking extra parts in many foreign movies filmed in Malta like Bharat, Das Boot, The Holiday, Luzzu, the Apple TV series Foundation and The Last Voyager of the Demeter, amongst others. Leah played her very first theatre role in 2018 when she was chosen to play ‘il-ġurdien’ in the Maltese Christmas Panto Junglebook. A year after she played the part of ‘Ix-Xadina’ in the panto Aladdin produced by the same theatre company; Kumpanija Teatru Rjal. Later that year Leah gave her debut in the production ‘Just Musicals 7 being the youngest one among many local artists. In 2019, Leah was cast as Matilda the musical produced by Masquerade which had to be postponed due the pandemic, and has been re-cast recently for the same production happening in April 2022. In 2020 Leah, was one of the 12 finalists for the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest and placed 2nd in the national selection with her original song ‘Anywhere’, and later that month was the spokesperson for PBS for the JESC which was held in Poland. This is not the first time that Leah is working with Teatru Malta. In fact, earlier this year she was part of the youth festival Trikki Trakki special edition ‘pandemonju.’
