“Secondary school isn’t always fun. We want to help out and seek ways to make Theatre the solution, to help students come together through arts.”

Il-Madonna Tiegħi Aħjar Minn Tiegħek

Some villages have their saints, others have their Virgin Marys. But what if there could only be one Virgin Mary and one triumphant village left standing? Let the battle of festi commence! With the skilful pen and cheeky wit of beloved author Trevor Zahra and the enchanting musical composition of feast enthusiast and composer Alexander Vella Gregory, for the very first time an operetta will be played by Malta’s very own National Youth Band lead by band master John Ivan Borg and coordinated by the National Association of Band Clubs.

GAWGAW: Pantomime in The Dark

The Christmas Pantomime is the yearly tradition for many Maltese families; it’s that special time of year where they get to enjoy a night at the theatre with their loved ones. However, nobody has stopped to ask the question about its accessibility. Nobody, that is, until TeatruMalta commissioned a pantomime targeted towards a visually impaired audience.

From the start our aim was to create a show where everyone in the audience would have the same experience, leading us to make the decision that the show would be in pitch darkness. It felt superfluous to create a performance that still needed visuals in order to enjoy its full experience; we look at the impairment not as a limitation but as a world of possibilities.

The Maltese myth is brought to life by a stellar cast including Chucky Bartolo as Dame, Samuel Farrugia as Principal Boy, Philippa Cassar and Joseph Zammit. Join us for a magical sensory experience that’s the first of its kind in Malta.

Il-Qtates ta’ Max-Xatt, Opra Għat-Tfal

How many cats does it take to make a children’s opera? You’ll just have to wait to find out! In co-production with the Three Palaces Festival, Teatru Malta presents a newly-commissioned opera for children. Our stage, you ask? Only one of Malta’s most extraordinarily majestic palaces. Composed by talented young composer Euchar Gravina, with a libretto by children’s favourite Clare Azzopardi, and directed by acclaimed opera director Denise Mulholland this melodious production promises to be a magical spectacle unlike any other which will tour schools and enchant all. If music be the food of education then play on!
